How to Escape the Quiet Shame of Feeling Stuck as a Man
“Is this it?”
That’s the question that keeps you up at night.
The quietly painful one you don’t say out loud to ANYONE.
The one that creeps into your mind when you wake up at night.
Because deep down, you FEEL it.
The weight of unfulfilled potential.
Frustration with something in your life.
The quiet shame of not being where you thought you’d be by now.
And just like me, you love your family.
You see your wife working hard to do her bit, and you want to give her more.
You go in to check on your kids before you go to bed…
…and you watch them sleeping soundly, hoping you can be the dad they deserve.
You’d do ANYTHING for them.
I know it.
And I see you, brother.
But when you look at your life, something pisses you off.
You WANT to be more.
Not just for them.
Not just to make your aging parents proud.
Not just because other men around you seem to be killing it.
But for you.
And yet…
Life is fucking relentless.
The shit going on at work drains you.
Another email telling you the monthly household bills are increasing.
By the end of the week, you feel relief that another one is done…
…but now you have the DIY shit to sort, kids to drive around…
…or a never-ending list of stuff.
And here’s what annoys you…
Deep down, you have ideas, ambition, a fire inside.
You want to be happy, rich, free, and live an exciting life.
You see other men succeeding, and you know you’re capable of more.
But every day feels like running through quicksand.
After years of working with men, I can confidently say:
Being stuck as a man isn’t just frustrating, it’s soul-crushing.
Because deep down, we are builders.
We need to create because that’s progress.
We need to show up for our family because they rely on us.
We need to WIN because it feels good.
We don’t do it just for the money.
Not just for security.
We do it so we can look ourselves in the mirror and be proud of who we are.
But after interviewing hundreds of men, I know this:
Without progress, we slowly die inside.
And when you feel like you’re standing still?
That’s when the voices creep in:
Maybe I’m just not cut out for this.
Maybe this is as good as it gets.
Maybe I could just wait 15 more years and retire to my shed.
I had all of that during my time in the City.
But here’s what I realised…
The reason you feel this pain isn’t because you’re failing.
It’s because you’re meant for more.
And while there are loads of ways to make progress, here’s some good news:
You don’t need motivation.
Don’t need another podcast.
Don’t need to sit and "hope" things will change.
You need:
A plan.
Direction.
To stop wasting time and start making moves.
Because if you don’t?
Your frustration turns into resentment.
Pain turns into numbness.
Drive turns into regret.
And your family?
They don’t just need your presence.
They need you to realise your potential.
